Hand-painted Murals
For those who don’t know this about me: I PAINT THE WALLS. All the rooms I have had in my life, I’ve attempted to paint almost all of them. Whether it’s a solid color that enhances the mood of the room, or some kind of illustration or lettering, this has been a theme that has followed me. (It followed me to interior design school, for sure, and I think now my urge is stronger than ever to create visceral, immersive spaces.)
I like to attribute this “mural tendency” to the Bambi scene my Grandpa Hank painted on the wall of my nursery. We moved out of that house when I was only about 2 years old, so I don’t have access to the visceral memory of that space, but I have stared at this photograph for 35 years, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been following in grandpa Hank’s footsteps ever since.
